Spain’s National Court on Tuesday acquitted 11 

Pakistanis of planning attacks against high-rise buildings and a shopping centre in Barcelona. 

Three of the accused were, however, sentenced to 5.5 years in prison each for collaborating with a terrorist group, judicial sources said. 

The three had sent money to militants including the late al-Qaeda-linked activist Amjad Farooqui, implicated in the murder of USjournalist Daniel Pearl in 2002. 

One of the three was also sentenced to four years for drugtrafficking. 

Six of the others were acquitted of all charges, while two werehanded six months for falsifying documents. 

Prosecution had requested prison sentences of up to 32 years forthe men, who were arrested in September 2004.
